On Saturday, 30 November, the Vietnamese-German University (VGU) held its 2024 Commencement Ceremony to honour the graduates of the past academic year. Ruhr-Universität Bochum and VGU have been in close contact for 25 years. Computational Engineering (CompEng) has been offered as a sister degree programme at VGU since 2009. In addition, there has even been a double degree agreement between the universities since 2022, which is intended to secure the long-term and sustainable partnership between VGU and RUB.

Prof. Hackl, CompEng course director at RUB, was in Vietnam and took part the Commencement Ceremony 2024 to congratulate three Vietnamese CompEngs that have formerly visited the Ruhr-University Bochum in 2023 with the support of a DAAD scholarship to work on their master’s theses and have now received their master’s certificate. Vo Thanh Mot, Bui Quoc Phuong and Nguyen Quang Thien Vinh can be seen in the picture together with Dr. Nguyen Thien Binh (Academic Coordinator VGU) and Prof. Hackl. The Federal Republic of Germany was represented at the event by Boris Rhein, the Minister President of the State of Hessen (Federal Republic of Germany), accompanied by a delegation from Hessen state and Helga Margarete Barth, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Vietnam.
