Trip to Winterberg

2024-01-23

Winterberg Group Picture

On Saturday the 13th of December, the CompEng and SubSurf students, accompanied by the support team, ventured to the snowy and cold Winterberg for a day of tobogganing. Starting at Bochum main station 42 students, two children and a part of the CompEng/SubSurf team met to take the train and exchange the gray city for a winter wonderland.

In Winterberg 27 sleighs were booked and the ski passes allowed all participants to use the ski-lift and, therefore, elude walking up the slope again once they had tobogganed down. Since everyone had to share the sleighs there was enough time for snowball fights, taking photos or warming up in the restaurant and a plate of french fries. There was even enough time for some people to master the craft of tobogganing: They rode on the sleighs while standing up, which was very impressive to the onlookers. Even though it was quite cold, especially due to the icy wind, this day will hopefully be a warm memory of spending time with friends, sharing snacks and experiencing the German winter.
After a brisk walk to the station the snow day ended with the train ride back to the Ruhr area with tired but happy faces.

We are grateful for everyone who joined the trip and hope to repeat this adventure next year!
